Title: When Life gives you lemons ....
Post by butlersrangers on Sep 25th, 2019 at 2:55pm
The 'tree service' arrived today to remove recent storm damage. A huge Box Elder 'shattered', next to my barn, doing some minor damage.

Looks like, I get a new toilet seat out of the deal ......

What a fabulously massive and beautiful tree. Sorry it did so much damage but the toilet seat is a real prize! Lots of history in that tree seat.

We'll miss the shade. It kept the barn cool.

I gave the "Seat" to the crew. They're going to hang it on the wall at their office to "frame" the Employee of the Month!

For some reason, seeing this impromptu "toilet seat" makes me think of corn cobs from a "rougher" past.   :o

Hope your place gets back into good order.

Your a redneck if you can answer this. If you had both red corn cobs and white corn cobs, which one would you use first and why?

Now there's a question I would have never imagined!   :D

There goes a lot of fire wood for the coming ice age.  Wait, um, Global warming.  Ice age is so 1970s.

Funny, I'm sitting here reading this thread and drinking my coffee and I have this insatiable urge for a doughnut!

Good bye to Chuck's Acer negundo friend. :'(

Box Elder is not fire wood. It generates no BTU's.  I would have used up a lot of hardwood to burn up that junk wood.

I may be pushing it on the corn cobs. But you use the red ones first. Follow-up with a white one to make sure everything is in order. So says my Dad. I never had to try this theory out myself.

My father was a miser
He'd never waste a thing
How I do remember
How I do remember
The corn cob on a string

No corn cobs for me, I prefer the Sears catalog.

Gee, I stopped using Sears catalogs when they went to glossy pages.

Can't be as rough as the paper they provided us on the Aircraft Carrier!   ;D

Or the stuff the West Germans had at a location south of Stuttgart in the mid 80's.  One of our guys said their stuff could be used to remove bondo from car panels. He was prone to extreme opinions.  ...but only by a little.

Back in the day, I think U.S. Milspec requirements dictated that the enlisted paper roll, type toilet, 1 EA, be between 100 to 220 grit.

Officer paper roll was to be between 400 to 600 grit.

Officers also could have no splinters.
