Title: Old White Squirrel
Post by Whig on Oct 13th, 2019 at 6:58pm
Does anyone know how long squirrels live?

This beautiful white albino squirrel has inhabited our backyard for over 10 years now. I don't think that there have been more than one of these since they're so rare but I guess it's possible. 10 years seems old for a squirrel. Beautiful with pink eyes, also.

Takes nice pictures...

I don't know, but I would think albino squirrels would have a shorter life than non-albino.

My Dad a few years back was taking pictures of local albino dear with pink eyes. Some had patches of brown.

That squirrel sure has fluffy fur, perhaps you could also cut out the fabric softener.

I would love to have that squirrel perched on a branch and stuffed to display in my living room but my wife has forbidden me from killing it. I couldn't anyway but it would be a nice prize for display.

I've seen a lot of albino squirrels in Columbus, Ohio.  Some of the colored deer come from having a species of onchocerca that dwelt in the deer herd when it was larger, move first to the cows in order to survive, and now back to the larger deer herd.  They bring a little cow DNA along with them.  Herefords, holsteins, black angus & jersey colors.  I've seen pictures of one looks like it's part  Little Joe Cartwright's horse!
