William Brophy has interesting coverage of the Cataract Tool scoped Krag in his book, "The Krag Rifle", pages 201-204, 'Sharpshooter's Rifle'.

Mallory has at least three 'Cataract Scoped Krags' listed by Serial number in his SRS data:

#278148 (listed twice) 1. - 98T 06/26/01 4th Inf. (trial). 2. - 98T 06/26/01 Manila Ordnance Depot (damaged).

#278769 98T 04/  /09 SA Museum (from Ft. Leavenworth).

#278777 98T 04/  /09 SA Museum.

(Mallory's code:  98T = 'Sniper Telescopic Rifle'.).

Attached are five pages from Springfield Armory site:

(Note - Krag, #278777, is listed under # SPAR 6367. I believe, the Rifle's 'Cataract Tool Scope' is item # SPAR 7179.

The third page of the SA information is incomplete, but, does indicate six additional Cataract Tool Scoped Rifles were completed for Field Trial.

Four were sent to Manila, one to Ft. Monroe, Va., and one to Ft. Leavenworth, Ks.

It is likely the 'Kansas Krag', #278769, is still at the SA Museum, but, I have not found its SPAR number).
