Title: Remember The Maine
Post by butlersrangers on Feb 16th, 2020 at 6:19pm
Yesterday, February 15th, was the anniversary of the tragic explosion and sinking of the U.S.S. Maine.

This type of event seems too remote and controversial to be noticed in today's America.

I think KCA members likely reflect on this type of event more than most U.S. Citizens.

God Bless the Souls of those who were directly involved and touched by this long ago event.

A mast from the Maine is part of the Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery.

Just playing with numbers. I was born 61 years to the day that the Maine was sunk. Now I am 61. So yes, it is far removed. Though there were Spanish American War veterans around for some years after I was born, I don't know if I ever met any. I do recall at least one WWI veteran, the village barber.
