"Rock" - Welcome to the KCA Forum.
Please post some clear close-up pictures of your "new" Krag, so we can help with your question. "Granpa's Gun Parts", listed in the KCA Classifieds, has the 'Safety-Lever', (under Krag 1892-94), that you would need to fit your Bolt-Sleeve. (BTW - This Vendor also sells on EBAY as 'Movieman630'. He is a fine source of parts). I have attached his photos of the relevant early Bolt-Sleeves to help you ID yours. The difference is subtle! The fact that your part broke is an indication of why the early pinned-safety was abandoned. (Actually, your 1896 carbine was built and originally issued with a later style of Bolt-Sleeve. The 'obsolete' parts on your carbine are a bit of a puzzle). |
