Jim - FWIW:
U.S. Krag, #130032, would have been assembled around September, 1898. It was likely built as a model 1898 rifle, but, there are some 1898 carbines around that number. U.S. Krag, #204411, was built as a model 1898 rifle around May, 1899. (One rifle away, Krag #204410, appears in the Springfield Research Services data on Krags found in official records, a.k.a. "SRS" data. Being close is fun, but, irrelevant and tells us nothing). U.S. Krag, #482179, was built as a model 1898 rifle around August to September, 1903, per William Mook data. It is a relatively high Krag serial number from near the end of U.S. Krag manufacture. It does not appear in Joe Poyer's serial # tables. |
