Title: Mauser vs. Krag-Jorgensen
Post by Knute1 on Apr 19th, 2020 at 1:07am
This is in a report from the Chief of Ordnance, year ending 6/30/1899. It has the ballistics of a captured Spanish Mauser and is where the Ordnance Department raised the military ammo from 2000fps to 2200fps to better match the Mauser. Of course, they had to back off once bolts from Krags using this higher velocity ammo showed signs of cracking. The tests used Krag serial no. 88604. You will have to scroll back a few pages to get to the beginning of the report.

The subsequent article, on the development of non-mercuric priming at Frankford, may also prove interesting to Krag enthusiasts.

There is also the testing of the model 1895 Winchester 'lever-action', pages 151-159.
