Title: Teddy Roosevelt's Krag? Post by butlersrangers on May 18th, 2020 at 7:05pm
'FredC' asked me a question regarding Lt. Colonel Roosevelt's Krag carbine.
Fortunately, I am reading a rather interesting work on the 'Rough Riders'. In TR's own words, it does not appear he had one and he gave his .30-40 Winchester (a model 1895 carbine, I presume) to a 'trooper'. He also makes it clear the regiment turned in their carbines at Camp Wikoff, (Montauk Point, Long Island, N.Y.), during the lengthy quarantine/discharge process. :'( (The beach photo shows some troopers with carbines, when they arrived). |
