Various "U.S. Magazine Rifle - Caliber .30" Ordnance Manuals have been reprinted, over the years. New reprints are still available.
They show up at gun shows and on ebay. The 1894, 1898, and 1917 printings are a nice item to have physically available on one's book shelve. They nicely document the evolution of the U.S. rifle, aid with nomenclature and show some subtle details very clearly. The quality of Ordnance Department reprints varies. Some are poorly printed or eliminate appendix pages in the rear of the book. I do find my "1917" reprint by Cornell Publishing convenient and attractive. |
