I have a M1899 Krag carbine for sale. Serial number is 357589. Stock has a weak 1900 cartouche , and a P behind the trigger guard. Rear sight is the M1901 with the C on the left side. Front sight blade has the small C on the right side. Front sight is equipped with the brass rifle sight protector. Cleaning rod sections and oiler are in the butt stock trap under the buttplate. Striker is the small knurled head type distinctive to the M1899. Metal is mostly smooth gray patina , and the stock and hand guard are very nice with most of the original  finish  remaining.......both stock and handguard are mahogany in color and are well matched. Bore is excellent and shiney. This Krag appears to be all original and in exactly the configeration called for in Brophy's Krag book with the exception of a front and rear screw hole in the stock( for sling swivel studs ?) which have been filled with Plastic Wood and darkened to match the stock. This old carbine probably spent many more years in the deer woods than it did in the Cavalry , but they still seem hard to find. I can send high resolution pictures to anyone interested. I think the carbine is worth close to $1500.00 , but will listen to offers.
