Ok, new to the forum...  you prob saw this coming...

Helping a buddy identify and assess his Springfield Armory 1894.  I think maybe it's a 92/96 conversion?

S/N 11334 (?  hard to confirm 4th character)

Have reviewed all 45 pages of forum posts, and several times looked over the photo page on the website.

The stock is a carbine style with upper handguard.  But stock doesn't match photos on KC website, as the barrel protrudes a bit farther from the stock, and the forward stock band is different than the ones in the photos.

Would appreciate help in further identification, comments, etc.

Thanks.  Appreciate the isight and observations.

Also was going to mention appears to have had a sling.  The indent / holes are in the bottom of the stock, and the front band has a gap that perhaps is where the ring attached underneath for a sling?

The barrel is slightly crowned / rounded.  But it did seem odd the barrel length didn't "quite" match some of the other examples.

I was definitely wondering about all this, since it didn't match any photos on the main web page.
