Krag Rebarreling question

I bought my first Krag yesterday from a buddy at the range.  It is an 1898 Rifle.  Serial 308xxx made in 1901 I think.  All wood is in great shape and metal is good, but someone park'd it.  My problem is the bore.  I want to shoot cast bullets, but the bore is really rough.  CMP has barrels, but state that they are setup for the "old Sights."  My rifle has a brazed on front sight and a 1902 rear sight.  Can I use the CMP barrel?  If so, what kind of rework will be needed?  Thanks for the help. Cool

I just installed a CMP barrel on my Krag. I bought a REPO front sight from S&S firearms. The sight metal and the barrel are in the WHITE. You'll need to Rust Blue it. I did mine all together on the stove. I purchased Rust Blue from PJ's gun supplies. Paul there will talk you through the process if you call him. Then you have to install the barrel and headspace it. You need a finish reamer and some no go gages. You can rent them online. It's quite a process, but if I can do it so can you. Or find a gunsmith, GOOD LUCK there. There's a company advertising on gunbroker to do these tasks.
