Reloading is a good avenue. I've got the dies, but I have brass on backorder. The best I've been able to do is to find some boxes of ammo at out-of-the-way sporting good shops and reload after shooting the factory loads. Both brass and ammunition is hard to come by.

I'm in S.E Lower Michigan, and I have no problem finding new Remington .30-40 ammo anywhere.

I got my backorder Remington 180 grain from Cabelas today.  Obviously, they now have some.

Last gunshow - one week ago - I could have had probably twenty boxes of nice clean, recent, stuff - IF I wanted to pay a little over $31 per box, average.

Fortunately I have about 160/180 rounds of brand-new, and I don't shoot much; so, that will last me, I'm sure.

Found some LC62 Match ('06, not .308) for $25 a box, and I think the seller would have done a bit better for all of it. THAT I should have bought. Fortunately a friend of mine knows the guy - so, I may hit him up before the next show. '06 Match seems to have pretty well dried up in N. Kalif.

Found one box of 180gr Winchester loads in Rice Lake, WI at $26. Their last box. If I find a few more boxes here and there I'll be satisfied with having enough to reload.

Well, I found another "that's our last box" of 30-40 Krag in Monroe, Wisconsin. So out of 5 places I happened to stop in up in Wisconsin 4 of the places happened to have it. One place had 2 boxes (only bought 1 at $33), the rest one. Am I lucky or what? The one place that didn't have it was an old boy who was surprised that he was sold out. He always kept some on hand for a few locals. When I get to 100 cartridges I'll stop and leave some for the rest of the you and reload as needed.

Plain Old Dave,

I have a "bang loader" also, same old cardboard box.  Still use it.  Use the rifle also on hogs in OK.  That 220gr Hornady does work wonders on those pigs.  I still have a bunch of 180 gr  Factory (loaded) Winchesters I purchased many years ago.  $6.95 per twenty.  Sorry, not for sale.  Yet.
