	I would like to get some history on this rifle, the barrel is 18", and it has a peep sight.

	Hello, Not sure what type of information you are looking for. From what I can tell from the photo is that it surely has been cutdown. Probably used to be an 1898 rifle. It looks like the metal is pretty heavily corroded and the wood is pretty rough too. Ther serial number and some more photos or more detailed description will help to get you more information. 	The "after-market" Lyman peep sight and the modified cocking-piece of your Krag have value.� I don't know what you mean by 'turning it in to be destroyed'!� I am sure your Krag may have parts useful to a collector. � �� Butlersrangers
