	Just picked up a Krag, looks to be in good shape. 1896 date, serial number 52726. Is there a web site or section on the forum to check serial number?? Thanks Charlie

	According to my Poyer book, that serial number is right in the middle of 1896 rifle production, although no one can really tell the exact date.

	Congrats on the new Krag. I also have an 1896 Krag, built in 1897, but it was sporterized. I still enjoy it thoroughly. Check out your sling, it may be 1907 style. Others can give you a better idea. Might be splittin hairs. But you have a nice original rifle there and it may be something you can do to make it more period correct. Of course, I may be wrong about the sling, its happened before.

	Thanks GMountain and Knute. I'm not sure what year the sling is. It looks like it's marked HSS CO.
