I have a 1897 and 1898 that I have inherited from my granddad. I have done a lot of reading on this site and many others and found that they are rifles that were cut down to Carbines and one of them has some modifications made to the stock. Overall they are in great shape, but not 100% accurate at this point in their life. I would like to have them cleaned up and inspected to see if I could put some rounds through them.
Does anyone know of a good gunsmith that I can take these to in the Phoenix metro area by chance? I figured I would ask here before I started calling around. I am new to this. I have shot plenty of guns but only when I am out with my friends. Never owned one myself and surely not one that was so old.
Thanks, Chad
