IS this a M1906 Guttekarabin (Boy's carbine)?

Hi there, just looking for some help from anyone who can offer it.

Spent a lot of time trying to identify this rifle, but now I'm at the end of my identifying abilities.

Could someone tell me specifically what I have here?

I have a few issues, i thought this may be a boy's carbine, but not sure.

IT has the "K" stamp on it, with "1901" below that, and the Serial "5799" below that.

I'm confused if this is an original boy's carbine, or it one that was taken apart and reassembled in the 40's or so, with different matching parts.

Not in pic on the barrel there's another stamp that I've drawn a picture of (as best as i could).

Thanks for any input!

You got a M1897-Ingeniørkarabin.
870 made in 1901.

You lack the small wooden handguard between receiver and rear sight. Also, as you probebly understand, the rubber recoil pad not a option  Wink in 1901.

Except from that and the sight/scope base, It seem OK.

Thank you for your input!

I was wondering if the hand guard your referring to is in this picture....

Also, i guess i first considered the boy's carbine because mine slope on the part highlighted seems to match it, but of course I don't know either.

Just wanted your thoughts! Smiley

I guess i was also wondering what to do with the rifle now too.

Safe to take it to a gun shop to get cleaned? Would you know it's value at all? Etc.
Thanks for any input!

Yes, thats the handguard.

Value in US? Not sure, but seen different norwegian krags go for 500-1000 on Gunbroker.com.

Small world...I just bought 1901#5801 (my first Krag)...just a couple of numbers after yours. Unfortunately the fore-end has been chopped down.
