Wikipedia says that today, 5/23, is the anniversary of the Bonnie and Clyde ambush in 1934. In reviewing the 'gang' photos, I spied a Krag. A shortened rifle, it has the stubbiest forend I have ever seen.

Hard to tell what that is - looks like some sort of mutilated 1898. I think I've seen other photos of it, though. I assume it is now in some museum - anybody know?

This thread got me to thinking...hummmm...I have a couple of 98s.  I think I might put one on GB with the Bonnie and Clyde provenance.  Reserve of...let's say $1500.  What do you think? Grin

Frank Hamer apparently took the gang's weapons after he and the posse killed them. If a Krag was one of those weapons that was taken by him, there may be a good chance that it is in the Texas Ranger's Museum in Waco. Frank Hamer is in the Hall of Fame at that museum and I would not be surprised to see his memorabilia on display at that location. I have not been to that museum since I was 7 years old, so it has been a long time since I was there to look at or understand artifacts of that nature.
