Hi Tom, ran across your web site after searching for some information about a model 1898 springfield US armory. serial # 213424.  Looking for information on it.  No other markings on it. There is a J behind the trigger guard. Disassembled yesterday and cleaned it up. Looks to be all original. Forgot to look for markings when I took it apart.  I have access to about 8 of these. Not in the greatest shape as they have been sitting in a basement of a Library for about 40 yrs.  This one cleaned up pretty nice.  Can you tell me anything about it. Another one serial 107938 is vertually the same.  no markings on the wood or reciever either.  tried to add pic, but said file was too big

Something strange here. 107938 is a Model 1896, while 213424 is a Model 1898. The bolt handle area of the receiver, and the stock, should be different.

Also, I can understand no markings on the wood, but no markings on the receiver????
