This is a Sedgley 1898 Krag sporter that I own (serial #126069).  It has the Sedgley 'S' stamped on the receiver ring.  The bolt locking lug has been lapped so that the bolt rib makes contact with the receiver.  The barrel is a, 1905 S.A. dated, 1903 Springfield barrel.  The breech has been shortened and re-chambered to .30-40.  The barrel is basically up-side-down in terms of markings and the groves from rear and front-sight pins.  The rear peep sight is a  S-20 Marble's (Gladstone, Michigan).  The bandeded front sight is a Lyman.  The crudely slimmed and shortened military stock is one of the European walnut stocks the U.S. purchased.  It has an incredible number of repairs indicative of a time when labor was cheap and money scarce.  This rifle is not pretty but a part of the U.S. Krag story.
