Does anybody recognize what kind of peep this used to be?  I need to find replacement parts or something else that will fit like it .  Any suggestions?

Mike:  That is the base for a Redfield 102-K (earlier name was Western Gun Sight Co.).  You have the tough part; the long screw that goes through the sight base and Krag side-plate.  I'm attaching a photo so you can hunt gunshows and ebay.  Chuck

Mike:  The Redfield 102k is a convenient sight.  If the coin-slotted screw is loosened, the elevation slide can be raised to allow bolt removal.  The set-screw, if adjusted properly, allows return to the previous elevation setting.  The elevation and windage screws hold their adjustments well.  The flat piece of sheet metal is a cover and indicator.  It covers the elevation slot and indexes the elevation increments.  It is often put on wrong (i.e. underneath the slide instead of on top).  A recommendation on later Redfield instructions is to put a magazine cut-off shaft (with the lever removed) in the cut-off opening.  There is a roughness in cartridge feeding if nothing is in the slot machined in the receiver for the magazine cut-off.

I appreciate the info.  The pictures help a ton.  Now to start the hunt for parts!

Mike:  You might find a similar Redfield model #102 sight with a base made for a different rifle, but the same parts for the windage/elevation slide.  Chuck

Mike:  This incomplete Redfield #102k is currently listed on eBay (page 2 of listings for - krag).
