Is this a real carbine for sale?

I don't know if anyone wants to follow up on this, but I found an antique auction site at (You need to Login to view media files and links) that has a few old firearms.  In April they are auctioning a Krag model 1896 that say is a carbine. Serial number 80489.  22" barrel.  They estimate it will go for $800 to $1000. I am attempting to attach a photo from their website. If you go to the site you can see a higher resolution photo.

It's pretty convincing to me, but I'm by no means the expert here...  Nice looking gun though!  Some of the more senior members can probably confirm the serial number!

That first "8" looks like it could be a 3, which is still in range.
could use some better pictures on their site

Definitely a "3" to me. Worth a bid - I think it will go higher than their estimate.

I was the winner in the auction. I don't think anyone else bid. I'll have about $800 + $160 ( Internet buyer's fee ) + $100 ( Packing/shipping ) + $30 ( FFL Transfer/Background check ) = $1090 when it gets to me. If it's a "good 'un", I'll post some pictures. The fees seem ridiculous, and I could not convince them that they could ship it to my house since it is an antique.
