I joined this forum over a year ago. I sure appreciate the questions and the answers given. Now my Krag with the above serial number is no longer in its original configuration. It has a 1903 barrel and the stock had been shortened. But I have enjoyed the action.
Now, as I've seen it offered, I'd like to see if anyone would have any info on the serial number. I've got the Poyer book so I know when it was assembled. Thanks.

I don't see it on any serial number list that I have.  It is in the range of 1896 rifles.  So, your gun began life as a '96 rifle.
