your rifle was made in Sept 1898 and is a rifle with a very sporterized stock, looks to be in good shape based on the pics that you have attached. looks like it still has a orginal style site on it but is missing the hand guard, and other itmes that would be og full military configuration. If you want to restore it to military configuration, you have some work ahead of you but could be done, but if it is Grandpa's gun you may want to leave as is.
