78903 is listed as a 96C and 79026 is listed as a 96R. Nothing in between.

Thank you for the try, I have some of the srs magizines but not in the higher serial number ranges. I have one krag that has Fort Yellowstone-gaurd house, #5 in old red paint, on the butt,looks right. But without some paper it's just another carbine. I hope some day more imfo will surface.
untill then I will enjoy collecting,shooting and studing these old girls. DW
