I recently became the owner of a Model 1898 when my father-in-law passed away.  I have no family info on the rifle since we did not even know that he owned any guns.  I have been doing some looking on the web to try and learn about this rifle and was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction or provide any info on this particular rifle.  It is a Model 1898 #422508 with a barrel stamp "Alamo Gun Co."  Thanks!!

Pictures will help us, but from the barrel marking I would assume that the rifle has been sporterized.
