	I went to the range the other day with the 1897 loaded with 220 gr Sierra RN and 40 gr of 4350 @100 yds� I thought I had some SR1 targets as it turned out I only had scope targets.� So I ended up with a 6 oclock post on a white sheet of 8.5x11.� the picture shows the last four shots.� Two one hole groups.� I attribute the difference in either canting the rifle or poor sight picture.� Shooting with original sights.

	Nice rifle and nice shooting, especially with the original sights.� Looks like you've found a promising bullet/powder combination.� I use IMR 4350 but I've never tried bullets heavier than 180 gr in my Krag sporters.� I'll put 220 gr Sierras on my next Midway shopping list. Almost forgot to ask, did the last 4 shots alternate between the two locations as you shot or was it two in one hole then two in the other? It could be a sign of something being loose somewhere. I had a loose barrel band that would cause groups like that.

Beats me. I have no spotting scope and went to the range with bare irons. The one thing I did notice that I previously mentioned is that the rifle or me settled down after about fifteen rounds. I had a little difficulty getting on paper with the six o'clock hold. My next trip to the range will be at fifty yards to bring the sights into about 1/2 inch above the center to be zeroed at 100 with a 6 o'clock hold. The battle sights do raise hell with my sixty year old eyes.

	I hear ya about trying to use those battle sights. I remember sometime when I was about 50 (I'm 56 now) that all the rear sights on my milsurps grew fur. For a while I shot using my computer glasses with a big bullseye downrange. Now, using rear aperture sights has helped a lot. Receiver mounted are the best but even barrel mounted apertures beat tiny notches.

	Wow.� I never realized I might be below the average age on this forum.� I hope I can shoot as good as some of you older old guys shoot when I get to be your age.� Of course I have been told I've got the mind of a teenager.� But I don't think it was meant as a compliment.
