But it was my first Krag.  Before the fake carbine I posted earlier.

Not sure what other parts of the rifle are of interest for collectors' purposes.

Nice looking 98.  Looks like the handguard has been replaced, as the finish looks different from the stock.  1902 rear sight (my personal favorite).  Does it have a pronounced cartouche and proof mark?  Any tools in the but trap?  How does she shoot?

Hmm, another one of those repro handguards with a wide space on the right side.

'sherrick13': You might want to consider switching hand-guards between your two Krags.  IIRC, your other Krag is a cut-down rifle with a 1902 rear-sight and an original hand-guard. You would be better off with all original wood on your Krag Rifle. Your "Cut-down Carbine" would not be diminished with the reproduction hand-guard.

Your reproduction hand-guard is about 1/4" too long at the rear. It should not completely cover and overhang the receiver ring. There should also be a slight clearance at the front so the hand-guard does not press against the barrel-band.

Caution - When removing a Krag hand-guard, take the barreled action out of the stock, remove the rear-sight, and slide the hand-guard forward toward the muzzle. Assemble in reverse order.
