Just picked up a sporterized Remington Lee 30-40.Noticed there is no screw holding the barrel down in the fore arm,is it ok to shoot it like this ? Will only be shooting mild cast loads.

Is there provision for a forearm screw?

FWIW - If you are concerned about the barrel lifting and stressing the stock, improvise a 'barrel-band' with a couple of wraps of masking tape, prior to your Range Sessions.

No provision for fore arm screw as it has the original military barrel that used bands. Tape sounds like a good idea.
