Norwegian Krag safe with PRVI Partisan SPBT?

All,

Recent member.  I just bought a 1916 Norwegian Krag carbine and I don't yet reload ammo.  I do shoot a number of vintage rifles, so I may take it up later.  But for now I'd really like to ask why the PRVI Partisan soft point 139 grain isn't ok in a vintage N Krag.

I've read that there are only two companies that make Krag-safe 6.5x55 ammo.  One of them is Norma (link posted below).  The round is 144 grains and the muzzle velocity is listed as 780 meters/second.  If google did my math right, that ends up at 2559 fps:

So the question is - and I know nothing of chamber pressures, etc -- if PRVI Partisan SP 6.5x55 139 grain has a muzzle velocity of 2543 fps, isn't that close enough to Krag-safe Norma for range firing?

The Norma ammo link is (google has a translation tool):

The PRVI links is:

Thanks in advance.  I'll post pics of the rifle once I get it.

Last PRVI 6.5 bullets I had were undersized, measured .263.  If yours is the same, they'll generate less pressure.  I'd make sure the throat wasn't rough before shooting one though.

If your gun is in good shape and the head space is not too long the PPU 139 gr should be fine.  It is decent brass so save it and reload it.  Norwegian Krags tend to be on the long side of spec but if it is in spec it should be OK.

Many thanks BM1455.  Will save the brass.  Expect to start reloading after I sell a few projects.

And same question for the military M41 Swedish ammo.  I have alot of this ammo and it appears from this post that the MV might be ok in a Norwegian Krag:

For someone that is not already hand loading , PPU 139gr. factory ammunition would be an excellent choice. This ammunition would be pressure/velocity acceptable in your Norwegian Krag and deliver more than acceptable sporting use results .As previous member stated you end up with good brass to reload , and it's sizes are European spec. correct
