Hello All, While not a dedicated Krag Collector, I do have two of them and really enjoy shooting cast bullets. One is an original 1898 (1899 manufacture) the other is a scoped sporter I just got and have not fired yet. I'll be remedying that soon.

So when is this "Old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Welcome to the forum, condorjohn.

Pull up a stump.  The others will be along in a bit.

Yes, welcome to the Krag knowledge base.  I'm new to the Krag rifle and have learned much from these guys.

Welcome to the forum Condorjohn!  You're in great company here...

Pretty sweet looking ride there!  Have you considered shooting her at Perry?  That one would turn a head or two on the firing line.  Let's see the sporter too?

Since that photo, I've added a stacking swivel and an 1899 Bayonet and scabbard. I'll get some photos of the sporter and post them in the appropriate place.

Hello, I am new to this forum and I am trying to learn as much as I can.  In the picture of the Krag in the OP,  is the front barrel band with the bayonet lug on backwards?  It appears that the bayonet lug is at the rear?

You have a good eye! When I added the stacking swivel I looked at it and said "huh?" Now correct...

The rear barrel-band also appears to be on backwards. The "U" on the barrel-band and the head of the band screw should be on the right side (bolt handle side) of your Krag.
