Looking for info on making Krag blanks. Currently using 6 - 10 gr Red Dot or 700x, an 1/8" foam wad seated about 3/32" below the case mouth, sealed with a drop of glue, and a rosette crimp. Works fine but was wondering if anyone else has come up with something better.

Buy .303 blanks and size them down in a 30-40 file trim die that also moves the shoulder back. Widener's had the blanks.

Same kind of charge, but top off with a thin wax wad. (Melt beeswax/paraffin together. Pour thin layer onto wax paper or foil; let cool. Peel off and press onto loaded case mouth. No crimp. Single loading only. Not durable, but maybe safer downrange than foam stiffened with glue?)

Dig out your copy of Phil Sharpe's Complete Guide to Handloading. He wrote about making blanks for Krags.
