Question:
Is the Krag Carbine band spring the same band spring that the M1903 uses?

Hi olBEAR,

I've seen them advertised as being the same on some websites, however, my meager experience indicates there are some differences.

I've tried using the 1903 spring on my Krag and it seems to fit but would need some slight modifications to work properly.

The 1903 spring seems to fit snug in the spring inlet and does't snap up and lock the band into place.  the 1903 spring would probably need some sanding/grinding on the sides to fit properly.

IMHO: Krag bands are available at many websites for a nominal fee.  Anywhere from $5.00 to $25.00.

BTW: I threw in a 1903A3 band spring for good measure.
