No great information here, but, this article helps reveal how much Firearms 'Scholarship' and the detail and data available to us has increased in the last 70 years.

I don't know for how long "GUNS - The Magazine for Sportsman and Collector .... " was around.

This is from, Vol. I - October, 1946 - No.1.  This magazine predates the founding of, the similarly titled,"Guns Magazine", in 1955. (I don't know if it evolved into a different magazine title, quickly went bust, or how many Vol's and No's were printed).

It is printed on rather low quality paper and it is probably pretty amazing it survives and in decent condition. (I bought it a few years ago on ebay). It marks a time when illustration was still used more than photography to tell a story. I like the black & white Cover drawing.
