This had to be a curious story with some odd twists, as it 'unfolded'.

Leroy David Barr apparently was on furlough from the 22nd U.S. regiment at the time of his alleged crimes.

He obviously was later exonerated.

He was Honorably Discharged around 1904, re-enlisted a year later in the 27th regiment, served in the Quartermaster Corps during WW1 and rose to the rank of Captain.

He later served as Quartermaster at Ft. Totten and retired as a Captain in 1932.

(The picture of Leroy David Barr and his model 1892 Krag-Jorgensen must of been a few years old, when it was used on the 1904 'Wanted' Poster).

To heck with the Reward. I would have turned him in to get the rifle!!!
