The weather has finally decided to act like spring, my house hold chores were done so I took my Krags to the range yesterday. They had a great time and I did too.  Smiley

Sounds like a fun day!

Who fitted the model 1892 rifle and model 1896 carbine to model 1898 stocks?

Local boy, I could not afford to shoot these if I did not hand load. Have had Krags in the family for 60 years and nobody ever got rid of the brass so I have a decent supply and every once in a while I run into a shooter that has some and I either buy or trade from them.

BR, I fitted both of them after doing my diligence and having examples of both stock types. Took awhile to get them to fit.

The SN of the 1892 is 13885. If someone with SRS access could see if there is any hit in the data I would be very much appreciate the effort.

'Zgun' - No hit.

Closest numbers are #13823 & 13842, model 1892 rifles, 09/12/1897, Dept. of Dakota, Inf. Comp. (competition)?

#13920 was a model 1892 rifle, destroyed 05/17/1929, by the New Cumberland Guard at the New Cumberland, Pa., Depot.

Thank you Chuck for the info. This rifle is a great shooter and has an amazing bore. Virtually no pitting and cleaning after shooting does not yield very much copper as I typically get from my other Krags and 1903 Springfileds. This rifle was obviously treated well and kept clean in the military and after it was surplussed during the era of corrosive ammo. I am impressed, it is the best looking 120+ year old bore I have ever seen.
