Thumbler Tumbler

Ha HA! Broke out the Thumbler Tumbler this afternoon.  Ordered it a day or so before I ran off to Africa last year.  I envisioned it to be a bit bigger physically.  While not disappointed I reminded myself to stop watching guys who clean a hundred pounds of brass using cement mixers and kitchen ovens.

Assembly was easy if you read the instructions first!

Picked up a jug of Lyman walnut media at a certain Hardware store in Gettysburg (just because their web site shows some thing is available does not mean it is stocked in the store.  It means they can order it and get it in.) and dumped in a box of 44 Rem that had green corrosion on some of the pieces and a hundred or so HXP 30-06 brass.

An hour later and PRESTO! Green is gone and all of the brass is smooth as a baby's bottom.  ...except for the green corrsion damage.

Would I purchase it again?  No.  I already have one.  Who needs a second one?

Thumbler's Tumbler is money well spent so far.  Next step is to try it out with water and stainless steel pins.

LOL Sounds great Paul!  Let us know how that works with the pins and water.

I have been using a TT for 20yrs.  They are great little rollers.  I buy my walnut media from Janitor supply outfits.  You can get 50lbs for what 10lbs would cost in a gunshop.  Plus they have several grades of coarseness.

I am preparing for Perry.  Just 2019 or 2020 Perry.  In fact I put away, in the ammo can, five boxes of 30-40 that cost me six dollars and fifty cents a box this afternoon

(memo to self:  Need to load up the other seventy-five cases tomorrow)

Added:  Heck with it.  I loaded up the rest of them.  Two boxes of Win and nine R-P.

I've been using mine for 47 years now, am on the 2ND drive motor.
Been through a half dozen drive belts as well.
The original plastic roller bearings are long gone. I used a chassis punch and installed four sealed ball bearing instead. Works like a charm.
I only use mine as a wet tumble with S/Steel tumbling Media.
Fill it up,a few drops of Dawn, turn it on and set the timer for one hour. The brass comes out brighter than new.
Really crappy brass, like the military 6.5 Swede brass takes two hours but comes out bright and shiny as well.
Could not live without mine.
