This Krag has a 24 inch barrel. The barrel is marked on the underside with a P and a five pointed star.  While a dead ringer for an "03 barrel, it is still 30:40 Krag.  Just another Stokes-Kirk, or something else.  Marked 1898, the serial number is in the 185,000 range. Thanks for any help.

I have a different opinion than others when it comes to that star mark on a barrel.  I think that star-gauged barrels were marked, and not just sent with a card showing measurements.  That makes no sense.  Guys would be selling service grade barrels with the card!  The barrel on my Camp Perry rifle has the star mark and slugged very uniform and tight.  Of course, after all these years, not every one would.
