1898 Krag Rifle

I've had this rifle for awhile but not sure I posted it. Serial 455447. Is there any history particular to the number? The Stamping on the heel of buttstock is "2F5". The unit ID is stamped into the buttplate.
I purchased it from a CMP forum member out of South Dakota for 650 shipped. A real deal in my opinion. Bore was dark but it shoots very good. 1.2 MOA at 100 yds. (I've posted this info before with 160 Hornady Flex Tip 30-30 bullet.)
