Can someone tell me the difference (if any) between the 30-40 Krag take down tool and the one used for the '03 Springfield?  Thanks from a complete newbe. -Tom

'Tom' - Welcome to the KCA Forum.

Attached is a photo showing the Krag (1897) tool on the left and an early 1903 tool on the right.

The Krag tools are getting relatively hard to find.

The 1903 tools have the small screwdriver near the pivot and a long 'punch' pin.
1903 Springfield tools were made as late as WW2 and are found in many variations. Later tools feature a hollow rivet.

You need to be cautious that a "Krag tool" is not faked from an altered 1903 tool.

I've been looking for a real one for the last two years with no luck.
