Maybe this was discussed before, but this is the first time I've seen Captech advertised. Where is it made? Looks like it usually sells at a relatively high price, but that sale price is very tempting. Been buying Hornady lately.

WOW!  I think Captech were the ones who told me to get lost (not in those words though) a few years ago.  It looks as if a lot of companies took notice when Hornady stepped up last year, and are now producing Krag brass and ammo to supply the obvious gaping hole left by Remington when they stopped production a few years ago.  Even Remington started producing ammo and brass again last year!

Rejoice fellow Kragsters… but take heed:  We need to keep up demand, or we may see these companies ramp down again!

I’ve bought 400 of these from Graf’s recently. The brass is heavier than Remington’s. I measured the Captechs at 20 grains lighter than RP. On the other hand, the Captech brass is short. It measures about 3.00” on the nose. After the first firing, about half the RP brass needed to be trimmed; none of the Captech has surpassed 3.010” after one firing and sizing.

The bevel on the Captech is much less noticeable than on the RP. At first I didn’t notice that there was any bevel, until I looked closely.

Some of the Captech has blemishes on it (brown discoloration), but I’ve had no problems firing it.

The nicest thing, besides the price, is that all 8 bags I got had 51 cases, not 50.  Cheesy

For whatever it's worth, MidwayUSA has Hornady Brass (Krag among others) on sale now, and through the end of today free shipping on orders over $49.

I just bought some Captech brass as well as Krag ammo from Hornady, Remington and Winchester. I decided after firing some of each, I would randomly select 10 once-fired rounds from each brand and measure and weigh them. Here are the results:

Weight—
Captech 187.5 grains
Hornady 180.1
Winchester 170.4
Remington 163.8

Length—
Remington 2.307”
Hornady 2.306”
Winchester 2.306”
Captech 2.301”

I bought 100 pieces of the Graf brand Krag brass. Gonna use some Federal 210 Match primers because that's all I use because they're the same price as regular Fed 210 standard
primers where I go Smiley
