Hello to the forum: This sight is with some krag parts and accessories I am looking at. I only have the one picture of it. Is this from a krag or some other rifle? I hope someone can i.d. it with this limited info. It comes as a group so I have to figure in a price for it
       Thanks in advance, kc

Looks like a ... trapdoor sight?  Certainly not a Krag sight

Thank you: From what I have learned from the forum I did not think it was a krag sight. Just wanted to double check. The rest of the items are all krag. Would $25.00 be a fair price for the sight? I would sell it if I buy the lot. It's bad enough having a krag crave going on. I do not want to add trapdoors denting the wallet!

I believe that is an 1879 Buckhorn rear sight for an 1873 Trapdoor rifle (note the "R" marking).  Compare:

More info with some pricing comparison here (I will defer to someone more expert as to whether yours is original or reproduction):

IMHO - It is an original. (It would cost too much to replicate).

I believe at one point at least Pedersoli was reproducing them:

It looks to me to be an original, as well.

Reproduction sight is more expensive than an original. That's crazy!

In fact the same goes for the entire rifle.  For the price of the Pedersoli you can get a very nice original example, assuming of course you aren’t talking about something like a Custer era carbine or officer model.

I should have guessed that roller coaster rail on that sight was for a 45-70. Thanks for the info.
