Charles Valentine

CV      C. Valentine 1898-1905
Seen on early 1903's and rarely on late Krags.

The cartouche was the only thing at all interesting to me. Neat story how it was sitting in an attic for "X" number of years but we all know you buy the gun, not the story.

It's always nice to find an original untouched Krag but they are hard to find. The buyer will probably be satisfied.

The cartouch is indeed the interesting part. That turns an "ordinary" Krag into an interesting part of ones collection. The CV is not all that common over all and much less so on Krags

Yes, Whig, you are right the buyer is satisfied.     Grin
I bought this rifle, not for the story of being in the attic, but for the fact that it has the CV cartouche,  Charles Valentine.
In all my years of collecting Krags I have never seen one anywhere with this cartouche.  I was very happy to make the deal to add this rare Krag rifle to my collection.    I haven't shot it yet, but probably will get it out there soon.

Has anyone else seen or own a Krag with a CV cartouvhe?

Congrats, Tom. I don't know if I have ever seen one. Nice addition to your collection, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing and educating us on this unusual Krag. Again, if it could just talk!

We had a post about an 1899 on the forum in July.  It was on a rifle that was for sale on "Jouster".  I think we had another more recently on a School rifle or what may be an actual Constabulary.  The details are fuzzy for me, but I know I saw it here.

Thom or Ned, whichever one of you got this, it went to the right guy! Terrific.

You mind if I add your rifle to the KCA serial number database?
