I was at my local gun store last week. They had two krag rifles. Both had been modified. Any ideas on what percent of krags have been sporterized, modified, bubbasized? It seems like I see a lot more stock Springfield, mausers, etc. The last stock krag I saw was at cablammos (cabelas) and it was priced like it had boxer rebellion booty hidden in the stock.

That's a great question. I would like to see some estimate on unmodified compared to modified Krags. Out of the near 500,000 made, it seems like, from what I have seen, around 60 percent have been altered or modified to the extent that they cannot be easily returned to military configuration.

But, I have no real data to back that up. Just years of looking at hundreds of Krags at various places including online listings such as Gun Broker, auctions, local gun stores and gun shows.

Let's see what other opinions share.
