1898 Krag Carbine (maybe Steyr Norwegian?)  serial # 373.
I have no idea what it is or where it’s from. Trying to post pics.
It’s in 6.5x55 Swede. Thx.

It is a Norwegian Model 1895 Cavalry Carbine, or what is left of one. It is one of 850 made in 1898 the first year of production. Restoration would be a daunting task due to lack of parts availability.

This is a carbine that appears worthy of restoration.

I agree with Ned that it started as a Norwegian Model 1895 Cavalry Carbine.

The butt 'sling-attachment' appears to have been re-positioned to the rear, so, it may have been 'repurposed' later by the Norwegians as a similar Engineer's Carbine?
