Hello...1899 question...

Hello all,

I have a Krag 1899 carbine.  The cartouch is clear and the stock and forearm have a number of bumps and bruises but all in all the rifle seems to be in pretty good shape.  There is also a small capital T about one centemeter behing the trigger guard and a fancy script P in a circle (approximately 30-40 point font in size) and inch further back.

Also, I have recently read about the parkhurst device that facilitated use of a stripper clip.  I understand most were destroyed but what does this look like?

Any information that you all have about these markings and a potential value would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A photo of your carbine would help!

If you do have an original 1899 Krag Carbine, it can be worth a lot of money depending on condition. Mine has been valued between $3000 to $5000 by Joe DeChristopher.

The Parkhurst device is described, as is your carbine, in Frank Mallory's book, The Krag Rifle Story..

Hope this helps.
