Krag handguard

Hi all, I have a quick question. I have an 1892 Krag updated to 1896 configuration. It had the '96 sight on it, but I put a 1901 sight on it to adjust for windage. It didn't have a hanguard, but now that I'm shopping for one I'm a little confused.

If I buy the 1901 handguard, will it fit on the rifle the same a 1896 would? The 1901 looks to be shorter in front of the sight, not reaching all the way to the barrel band, is this true?

Hijacking my own thread, are the trigger guard screws/rear sling swivel interchangeable with those of a 1903?

thanks

JD

The screw holes for Krag rear sight are all spaced the same and in the same location on all Krags, but the sight dimentions vary. The '01 has more metal in front of the front screw so the matching hand guard will have a bit less wood in the front section. Those '03 parts should interchange.
