Looking for information. Re krag 1943

I am new to this site. I found it to be the most informative in my search so thought I'd try posting. My pictures are too large to attach. Any suggestions there? What I have is a Krag marked NA 1943 778 with German proofs. It has been in the family since the 1950's with probably less than a dozen rounds through it during that time. From what I have seen the for-stock looks shortened from original?? Any ideas as to its value? Kids helped me figure out the pictures.

That is one of the Norwegian Krags made during Nazi occupation. Yours has been sporterized by cutting back the stock and removing the handguard. Hopefully mussonor will see this and give us more info!

Hi.

You got a norwegian m1894 krag assembled during ww2. In 1943 a number of 1000 m94 were made. They were some more rough in finish then the earlier made. The biggest difference is the trigger. It is more "round" and looks more like the mauser k98. From the first pic I can perhaps see that the trigger is like that. As Butt say, the stock is cut and miss barrel bands and handguard, The bayonet lug seem to be cut/grinded of, should be under the front sight. Approx 2700 of these were made/assembled 1943-1944.
Exported to US/Canada in 50-ies. as surplus.

Thanks Ned & Mussonor for your insights. This has been the most informative site on the Krag that I have seen. keep up the good work.
I'll try and get the kids to help me with a few more pictures later.
When I was a kid 12-14 you would think nothing of throwing the 22 over your shoulder, walking down through side streets of town to the local gravel pit do a little shooting. Neighbors say "how ya doing" no big deal.
Today you even say you have guns people look at you sideways, and say "are you a gun nut"
I have gone out "shooting" only once in the last 10 years.
If I was to let a few of my rifles go, any idea of value on this one would be appreciated. Ballpark.

I'm with you on the "gun nut" thing. I used to walk thru town and get on the railroad tracks to get out of town to go hunting before having a drivers license. The 8th grade principles between the 5 towns that made up the school district taught the hunter safety course. We brought our 22's to school at night for hands-on lessons. I have 5 sons and I'm trying to pass it on as much as I can.
Anyway, I have found this forum very informative and learn from the questions of newbies and veterans. And I enjoy the heck out of my Krag Jorgensen.
