morning I just received a Krag model 1898 # 120034 it appears to be a carbine just wondering if was cut down or made that way.

That number is within the production range of the 5000 M1898 Carbines, in fact, 120027 and 120039 are recorded as being carbines There is nothing on your number, but it doesn't get too much better for arguing against detractors. Pictures would help.
