I just picked up my first Krag. It is a 1894 model. The barrel has been nicely shortened to 21". The patina all matches as does the 1903 sight on the barrel. The serial number is 23XXX. Is this a drill rifle or school rifle? Thanks Art

I went to a buddy's and looked at his Krags. I have a 1894 rife with a 96 bolt and a 98 rear sight with an 03 front sight. Question is where was this done?

IIRC, we saw another of those within the last month or so.  My GUESS (worth exactly ZERO) is still that it is a Bannerman-altered Krag.  Probably done in the 1920s or 30s.  Treat yourself to a re-run of the original King Kong movie and look carefully at the rifles.
